Monarchs seeking end to six-game losing streak

Old Dominon head coach Bobby Wilder surely didn't envision this start following the Monarchs home win against crosstown rival Norfolk State to kick off the 2019 regular season. Following a string of losses, six to be exact, ODU will face Florida Atlantic in a home contest that could a lot to decide WIlder's future with the program.
After a 38-14 drubbing at the hands of UAB, the defending Conference USA champions, ODU appears to be a long way from a return bowl trip in 2019. The Monarchs will need the remainder of its regular season contests to become bowl eligible. Quarterback play and turnovers continue to haunt ODU.
Saturday's contest will take place at S.B. Ballard Stadium on the campus of ODU. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30pm.

Norfolk State spoils Howard homecoming with impressive win
Led by quarterback Juwan Carter's four touchdowns, Norfolk State spoiled Howard's homecoming weekend with a 49-21 victory. The Spartans moved to 2-5 on the season, but most importantly ended a four-game losing streak, including two conference losses.
Norfolk State rolled up more than 600 yards of total offense against the Bison, of course led by Carter's brilliant perfomance. The Richmond native accounted for 433 yards, including two touchdowns on the ground. The yardage total was the Spartans' highest output in 14 seasons and just 10 shy of the school record.
Nansemond River graduate Kevin Johnson opened the scoring with a four-yard touchdown run to give Norfolk State an early 7-0 lead. The Spartans took a 28-21 lead into halftime before blowing the contest wide open in the second half.
Norfolk State will travel to Bethune Cookman this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm.
